Massive support for meeting

Mooroopna Harness Racing Club is geared for a big night at the Shepparton racetrack in the twilight zone on Sunday evening.

More than 110 nominations for the meeting have translated into a nine-event card, which starts at 6.07 pm with the final race at 9.22 pm.

Club secretary Dulcie Daldy said her club was happy and grateful for the support trainers had given the meeting.

‘‘Given that this time of the year some clubs struggle to get full fields, we have had excellent nominations for the heats of the C1 Only fouryear-old and older and CO Only four-year-old and older,’’ Daldy said.

‘‘Both have been split into three and four heats and they should make for some keen racing.’’

Both finals will be run at the Echuca meeting next Thursday night.

The program starts with three heats for CO Only fouryear-olds and older class pacers, with the fourth heat the last race on the card.

The C1 Only four-yearolds and older will feature three heats from races six to eight

The other two races are a trotters handicap for TRO class or better class trotters and a race for R2 to 4 class pacers.

Successful Riverina trainers have targeted the meeting.

Leeton’s Kim Hillier has four runners — Talking In Riddles, Benoah, Ezycome Ezgo, Stormsriver and A Little Bit Frosty — all to be driven by Shepparton reinsman David Moran.

Snudden has the welldrawn The Brazen Jasper and Soo Special engaged in the final two races.
