WINNING FEELING

SHEPPARTON-TRAINED PACERS DELIVER THE GOODS IN PRESTIGIOUS RACES DURING BIG WEEKEND ON TRACK

Shepparton-trained pacers have had a huge weekend.

Trainer-driver David Moran and trainer Dave Farrar claimed prestigious races in different states.

Farrar produced The Kew Legend to win the MIA Breeders

Plate, one of the most sought after two-year-old events in Australia during the past six decades, while Moran further heralded the arrival of a superstar pacer he trains in Lochinvar Art, who smashed the clock winning one of Saturday night’s features at Melton.

Lochinvar Art rated a scorching 1.48.6 in taking the $100 000 Group 1 Alabar Bonanza, lowering the colours of arguably New Zealand’s best pacer Self Assured in the process.

In winning, Lochinvar Art sliced a whopping 2.1 off the track record set by Cruz Bromac at 1.50.7 in 2018.

Farrar had his biggest win in the sport when The Kew Legend zoomed to the front in the $30 000 Breeders Plate with Damian Wilson in the sulky at Leeton on Friday night and bravely fought off all challengers in the home straight.

Another Shepparton-trained pacer back in the winners’ circle during the weekend was the Steve O’Donoghue-Bec Bartley-trained star San Carlo, who breezed to a win at the Mildura meeting on Friday night.
