The harness racing and basketball worlds will collide tonight at Shepparton Harness Racing Club.

Greater Shepparton Basketball Association is hosting tonight’s race meet, rattling the tin to find some funds for the association going forward.

Among those in attendance will be dynamic Gators imports Cameron Vines and Spencer Coleman, who have lit up the Big V in their short time in the competition.

The gun players will be showing off their jump shots on the portable basketball ring set up at the track, with shooting competitions and prizes on offer.

There’s plenty for the kids to do with face painting and a jumping castle — and even the chance to win a ride in the starting mobile.

Much like the senior Gators, Ross McKellar’s Crookwell Jake, trained out of Kialla, will be looking to make it three wins in a row.

The four-year-old mare won two weeks ago at Albury before saluting last Wednesday at Echuca at a tidy price of $27.70.

McKellar said he was looking forward to tonight’s festivities, and seeing if his horse could keep up the f lying form.

‘‘A friend of mine had it up in the paddock in New South Wales, it’s been in the paddock for about three years and I’ve had it since October,’’ he said.

‘‘Each time you step up it’s a bit harder, so we’ll see how we go and she’s a chance of a place if she doesn’t win.

‘‘It’s tremendous to have the basketball association involved. Leigh (Bathman) and I have a good relationship and it all just works out well — winners are grinners we hope.’’ ? Tickets can be bought at the gate, with a prize for the domestic club which sells the most tickets. Terence Tuohey from the GSBA committee can also be contacted for tickets on 0458 911 003.
